Following the success of its first casino night, Bent But Not Broken (BBNB) will host it’s 2nd Annual Hold ‘Em or Fold ‘Em Casino Night & Poker Tournament on October 4, 2014. BBNB is the first nonprofit organization in the nation created to help both patients and their caregivers living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (CFIDS). Established in 2012, BBNB’s mission is to provide educational, emotional, and financial resources to those patients and caregivers. With more than one million Americans living with this debilitating illness, BBNB strives to not only support sufferers of CFS/CFIDS, but also to educate those who are unfamiliar with CFS/CFIDS.
Founder of Bent But Not Broken, Lindsey Beres, says, “I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to hold our 2nd annual Casino Night. I believe the key to a successful event is making it unique and enjoyable for the guests and that’s exactly what this event is. I know all of the patients waiting to receive financial assistance from our charity will be undoubtedly grateful for this event.” Lindsey suffers from CFS and understands the struggles of this life-altering illness. After years of volunteering for various Phoenix charities, she decided it was time to reach out to the world about this “invisible” illness and start her own charity.
While there are nonprofits dedicated to raising funds for research of CFS/CFIDS, Lindsey wanted to set BBNB apart by focusing its efforts on the patients and caregivers themselves. More information on their mission is listed HERE. Since it began accepting financial applications in January 2013, BBNB has been able to cover the cost of treatments, tests, procedures, and medications for sufferers of CFS/CFIDS. Through several fundraising events and generous community support, BBNB has proudly provided financial assistance to patients nationwide. The 1st Annual Hold ‘Em or Fold ‘Em Casino Night & Poker Tournament was the largest source of that financial assistance in 2013. BBNB hopes for even better success with their second event.
The 2nd Annual Hold ‘Em or Fold ‘Em Casino Night & Poker Tournament will be held at The Homestead at DC Ranch located at 18600 N. 98th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85255. Guests should dress to impress for a 6PM cocktail reception and bring their poker faces for the 7PM poker tournament. Casino games such as black jack, craps, and roulette will also be available to guests, where they can earn chips to win a grand prize. Guests will enjoy an open bar, including a Dirty Tequila bar, as well as an assortment of hor d’oeuvres from local restaurants. Live music will be played throughout the event, so guests may dance the night away.
The purchase of a general admission ticket is $75 and includes food, drinks, and one raffle ticket. The poker tournament buy-in is $250 and includes food, drinks, one raffle ticket, entry into the poker tournament, and one general admission ticket for a guest. All poker players will be provided with a cigar, cutter, and lighter. Seats are first-come, first-serve and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Tickets for the event can be purchased online at www.bentbutnotbroken.org.
All proceeds from the 2nd Annual Hold ‘Em or Fold ‘Em Casino Night & Poker Tournament will benefit Bent But Not Broken. Through this event, guests can help raise funds and spread awareness of CFIDS to make a difference in someone’s life.
